**Just for the record, I am Not an affiliate with BLP** For what it’s worth. And not because I don’t support them, I just didn’t ask them if they had an aff program, to be brutally honest… O.O
Everyone online trying to rank their site in Google is interested in that magical thing called a “backlink.” Without belaboring you on what a backlink is – let me just paraphrase it as a happy thought that would make your site take off from Neverland like Pete ‘n Tink. One of the “signals” that Google looks for in ranking your site – or at least what the Google algorithm looks for, I doubt the leprechauns at the big G have much time for manually reviewing my micro-slice of Google-berry pie – is the number and type of backlinks that your site has.
There have been countless pixels shed on the subject, I won’t waste your time “educating” you on something you learned after you learned how to use a mouse, but FlippaChick has a neat post or twenty on the subject, as does most of my blogroll. (See SEOBook, SearchEngineLand and my blogroll: everyone wanting to actually rank in the SERPs wants backlinks like Tom wanted Jerry.)
Alright, assuming you know that a backlink is not something you need to see your chiropractor for, nor your massage therapist, nor your Shiatsu massage chair…I asked Backlinks Philippines to do some backlinking for me on two of my websites. Oh, Sara at NoteworthyTips has recently done this as well, so check out her results (her review on Backlinks Philippines was more in-depth, I’m just reporting something I find pretty cool).
Here’s a picture of my two sites’ stats using SEOBook’s SEO for Firefox plugin, before and after BLP hit them with a packet of 100 backlinks apiece, from forum profiles:

Site #1 Before BLP: Position 7 for main KW in G, 94 backlinks from UAW and article marketing, traffic of 83
That’s before the magic experiment. Here’s the result:
Ah! The coveted position. But wait…Google had a trick up their sleeve. At some point in May, the big daddy G-bones decided to do a massive algorithm game-change. You can read about that at change called Mayday mayhem or what have you by clicking this link. Just don’t go all Chicken Little…in any event, here is what happened a couple of days after my short-lived “hoo-rah!” –
Notice I dropped from #1 to #3 — but please remember I started out at #7. Also, not sure if I uploaded the right pic or not, but my traffic went from 83/day to 103 where it currently sits. I have noticed an increase in my CTR but won’t discuss further so I don’t violate the ToS from Googlie wooglie. Suffice it to say, the results are noticable, if not uber-significant.
Now, what about that red-headed foster child, Site #2? Well, after all was said and done, about a week after the team at BacklinksPhilippines was done with the 100 profile links, this is where that beast lies:
Net result – an increase in about 20 or so positions in the big daddy G-dizzle, with an increase in CTR of…well, nothing really. Being on page 17 or so isn’t that great, I don’t care how many backlinks you’ve got! Let the record show that the red-headed step-site did increase by 20 positions, though, and combined with other linking protocol and site tweaks, no doubt this site can climb. I just haven’t had time for that just yet.
Conclusion – What Do I Make of Backlinks Philippines?
First off – I’m 1/2 Filippino, so I have to say they rock the planet.
Alright, coming down from that high a little bit, my sober-mindedness returning somewhat, I have to conclude that they did what they set out to do. I’m not sure how these links are “boosted” or indexed, or if there is much of that going on at BLP. To be frank, with 100 profile links per site, both only showed an increase in backlinks by about 20-25 each. So, at best, YSE was only showing 1/4 of the 100 backlinks per site.
Problem? Maybe. YSE is notoriously hit or miss, and Google’s webmaster tools will show even less, but since YSE is the staple, I’ll stick with it for metric purposes. What did I have to do to get these 20-25 backlinks? Pony up a little cash (in normal conditions, this was a trial-for-review sort of experiment, so I actually lost nothing), email my URLs and list of KWs…
Then the really tough part. I had to
spin the article 3 times
rewrite some plagiarized EzineArticle
do some massive competitive analysis using a $125/month tool
…actually, I just sent the email.
So, on a scale of 1-10, the difficulty of using BLP was…you know, this is silly: they’re extremely professional, easy to use, and they gave me some backlinks that I didn’t have to think about.
Would I use them again?
Sure would, on money sites I want to fortify, on sites I want to get ranking, and in times when I am just too darn busy to work my passive income side of things. On typical micro-niche sites, I would only use them if I had an income that could support continual link-building. Right now, I’m *not* at that point. I have 9 sites (will post my May totals this weekend I think). Not much with which to support an ongoing backlinking service, even if they are probably related to me somehow (all Filipinos are “cousins” by default…).
If I was at the point where I could keep using their service, I wouldn’t hesitate at this point. BacklinksPhilippines does help ranking, period.
How much do they cost?
Here’s a screen shot. I’m off to the next thing: some of my own article marketing, finally!! <==first time in 3 months I could work my passive income...Darn those high-paying Elance gigs. (tongue in cheek)
Oh, before I forget -- I have begun the process of the interview you all helped me with, so we'll see about getting that interview up and published ASAP.

While the results sound awesome, I have to admit that it sounds a little bit expensive for $58. I’ve had similar results with a single UAW article.
I guess I can’t really be the judge of this though, I don’t know what keywords your trying to rank for.
Are your rankings with Site 1 still good? I assume your previous BLs to that site were articles, not other profiles?
I have seen at least two people recently have bad results with profile links so I am never to try them. Maybe there wasn’t enough diversity, though.

Nice experiment and results. I’ve found that going through a packet of the Blackbelt Backlinks monthly (400 forum profiles) can do wonders – but only if there there is already a nice diversity of links already on the site. However, I can’t stand to do profile links! But between hiring a VA to do some and getting SEO Link Dominator, the process is going easier. Hiring BLP to do some has also been an option I’ve considered, and I’ll likely give them a run sometime in the next couple of months – so I’m glad you had a good experience with them. I imagine you’ll still see some “dancing” in the upcoming weeks, so it would be good to get an update after a month or so.

That’s definitely the trouble, I think, with any such service, being a member of UAW. I’d recommend BLP for those who have the $ to spend, and who don’t want to go thru the editing and uploading process of UAW (time), or who want to multi-task and get sites #1-20 backlinked with an easy and hands-off method, while working other aspects of your business.
(At this point you and I are much of the same mind, though, I’m not *at* that point where I’d use anyone else, but that’s not because they don’t work or have their place, it’s just a biz mgmt thing.)
@ Carrie -
It’s holding at position #3, and it hasn’t been that high before…the highest was at position #5.
Re: link diversity – 95% of all my backlinks are article marketing, UAW runs and manual submissions…with only a few from directories (Hot Vs. Not is a good directory for a link, but they require a reciprocal…Google still counts it, however, per webmaster tools). I have a handful from social bookmarks from Bookmarking Demon and Social Bot – I haven’t used Magic Submitter yet on this site.
On my EzineArticles / GoArticles / ArticlesBase article submissions, I essentially copy my EZAs after publication and then cut and paste to the other two – I’ve juiced them by submitting the RSS two ways: to RSSBot individually, and then taking their feeds to RSSMix and then re-submitting to RSSBot.
All of that was done before BLP submissions, but didn’t make a difference in my backlinks that I noted. (I’m not as organized as Michelle, Sara, Yolanda et al, I’m more akin to my Chihuahua when it comes to being organized at how many links I’ve got and when…:/ )
Re: the effect of profile links, I’d like to know what you’ve heard, that’s news to me (I don’t read much other than a bid on Elance or my blogroll…after I’ve edited my projects, etc.).
@ Michelle -
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Terry’s BB, and it seems everyone I know has SEOLD – I’ve yet to try them out, but don’t think I’m at /that level/ just yet. I’ve more building to do.
It’s good to have some varied plans and what not for when I am at that place. I’ll definitely give a month’s end report with these two sites to see if there’s any dancing or what not.
I don’t think I’d use any one method, but I think article marketing will continue to be #1 for me, it plays to my strengths, and profile links will be there for a bit of diversity.
Nice research about ranking. Surely getting these many links will do some wonders. But it should be consistent untill you reach at top.
.-= All Is Well´s last blog ..Updates of May…and next June ahead =-.
It sounds ridiculous even if you have the money. You could probably outsource the writing and uploading(if you have a VA) of a UAW article for less than $10.
I think this type of service is just meant to prey on the warrior forum type guys who have no idea what they’re doing.
@ Josh -
Dude, you need some chillax in your Wheaties, man. :)
I respect the fact you’re entitled to your opinion, but there’s a not-so-veiled stab in there that wasn’t very gracious.
Rather than enter into a logomachy over parsing what’s between the lines, I’ll just say that I think every backlinking strategy has its place.
I don’t think that a service like BLP or Terry’s Backlinks Blackbelt, or Angela’s packets, etc. is for everyone nor is it wise to use when you can’t afford the services, but I do think that having a “set and forget” backlink stream is worth paying for if you can do so.
Fair enough?
I didn’t mean it “that way”(but yes, it probably sounded that way). All I am saying is that you pay a lot if you want someone else to do the work and thinking for you.
Like you said, “BacklinksPhilippines does help ranking, period.”
Ah! Now I’m glad I didn’t nuke you — I’m HORRIBLE at reading between the lines (my wife has that skill and she’s spot on, I try it and I’m completely left field) — I owe you an apology, then — I’m just a dolt when it comes to these things.
Anyhow, glad you cleared it up, and for the record, I see where you’re coming from re: the place of these sorts of strategies.
I checked the ranking on site #2 although it’s still early, it’s showing more backlinks and also jumped up another oh…FIFTY spots in Rank Checker!
No, not kidding, either – that thing jumped from 196 to spot 122, I’m not sure if the backlinks are getting juiced or just indexed naturally, it’s weird. Site#1 is holding steady. It didn’t have very much further to go, it was already near the top so didn’t expect much there.
Will have to report more on it later.
James, Tinman has had less than good results (don’t have the exact post: http://salespotentiator.com/) and Matthew’s private expt has been good although is solely profile links to one site so diversity could change the game.
I thought I also heard some complaining on WF or Terry’s forum. I jump around and read alot and come to conclusions, but often can’t pinpoint where I read things.
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..Building Backlinks with Articles – Article Order =-.
Quick revision. On Tinman’s recent post (comment) he’s wondering if the MayDay thing may be the issue and not profile links. Maybe the issues people are contributing to profile links are actually just the Google mess. Will have to wait and see what happens.

I personaly feel you are paying way too much for something that can easily be done if you bought your own submission software.
I use Senuke and build hundreds of links everyday for different keywords.
If I want to rank for any given keyword in google, it only takes me 2 weeks max. If the keyword is very competitive, I stay away!
I haven’t reached that stage of ranking for highyly competitive keywords but its possible over a period of say 2 months with the right backlining strategy.
However, seeing you got results with this, why not keep using them. Am sure the results speak for themselves.

I agree depending on your income bracket. If I had the $$ to spend on BLP, I would – but I’m not at that level (see previous comments between me and Josh).
I think this sort of strategy makes sense if you’re in a place where your business is such that you would save money and time by doing things this way. An aggressive marketing plan on sites that need the love, but you have other things to occupy your time.
As to submission software, I use Magic Submitter. SENuke works from what I’ve read on your and others’ blogs, but MS is more my style with pre-selling aff products as well as getting backlinks.
I’m an article marketer, I write sales copy — so it works best for me. It also has an RSS/Video/Social Bookmark submission capacity, and is *much less* than the overpriced SEN price (imho).
Granted, it works – but I’d rather spend that money on various article directory submitters such as UAW and ArticleRanks, MAN and the like.
Magic Submitter is/was $47/mo for me, though I would like to have bought it at the $297 once-off payment and been done with it.
But for where I’m at – with 9 sites making around $300-$800/month, I’ve decided not to use any other backlinking strategies other than massive article distribution.
I would recommend BLP and other similar services, however, for a main bread-winner you wanted to propel up the ranks into the #1 spot.
Having said all that: I believe we’re sorta on the same page. I advocate BLP because they work, but you have to know your budget and ROI.
I had no idea you were making that much. I assumed you were still in the single digits everyday like me or kelly. How much have the updates hurt you?
I was looking around for other automated link buildling services and I found Linxboss which will give you 1000 links to 5 domains(200 each) for $127 a month. I will try and find some more information on it, but right now looks like something I will consider when I have some authority sites that I just want to keep floating. I’m not sure what kind of links they are though.
Also, don’t worry about it. =)

Actually – not very much in terms of ranking with the exception of one site. However, traffic is dismal! Not sure if it’s the Mayday thing or simply: people are enjoying the summer break. Can’t bring the laptop into the pool…
I have such a small amount of active sites that I didn’t take a noticeable hit – looking at my sales, things are actually doing very well. Looking at AdSense…different story, but again: hard to say for sure in my case. I make $50-60 a month in Adsense (I think I mentioned I made about $100+ a month someplace, I was mistaken: it’s every other month I get a check from Google), but make hundreds off my aff product (it’s really just one product line, a physical product not an info product).
As to the rest of your comment, I emailed you some info on another product but it’s on the DL for now (just because I haven’t seen it in action per se). If I was in the single digits only (and I am in AdSense), then I wouldn’t be getting that just yet.
I didn’t really buy any software until AdSense paid me enough to do so — it was RSSBot from Incansoft, and SocialBot…but they work just fine.
My traffic has taken a ridiculous dive, but my rankings don’t seemed to have moved. However, I am making more money because my CTR is almost 3 times higher than usual. I honestly have no idea whats going on….
Are the products your selling just CJ products?
The program you just sent me sounds really interesting. I will have to check it out later. Like you said, I don’t need to be buying anything else at the moment. I still need to get MAS running. I want to get all of my infobarrels and hubpages I made last month ranking.
When you set up MAS, btw, it works best if you use a domain name email…found that out the hard way…and there are some hacked domains, too: carrie told me about that. Just don’t submit to those problem directories (don’t go from create profile > authenticate or whatever > submit, without double-checking your email — there’s a hacker who’s tagged the directories he’s PWNED).
In my sign-up, it left me with 150 directories to submit to, out of 1200! That sucked. I’m now config’ing my IMAP to one of my domains to re-set and re-sign up, acceptance rate should be higher, according to Alex Krulik.
Re: the software: totally sounded interesting – I had to slap myself not to get it! Anyway, I just need to use what I have before buying anything more.
Re: the affiliate products: yeah, the aff “product” is just a physical product from CJ. Btw, I was denied about 8 times from competitors before I found this company – not easy to get accepted, but they wanted to make some headway, & it’s worked out for both of us.
I have $24 left in my account after buying a year of hosting and MAS+MAR. Its probably a good thing there isn’t $37 in the account or it would be gone haha.
I was about to set it up with a gmail account but saw that. I have been trying to set up accounts on one of my domains and I can’t seem to get the domain to point at my server. I have no idea what I’m doing to be honest haha. Does it take a while after you change your name servers?
I’ve also had a lot of trouble being turned down by affiliate networks. I was glad when I found CJ because several of the companies auto accepted me. Many of them also have much better commission than sites like Amazon.
Josh –
It takes about 2-3 days for your DNS to do its thing, for me on 1&1 it takes about 2 days usually, but a few times around the holidays it took about 4 days (when I first started out that was an eternity!).
Configuring the IMAP for MAS and other submitters is something that’s different w/every host, if you’re on Hostgator they have really good customer service (at least that’s what Kelly said on her blog!)- I’m actually on JustHost and they’re pretty good with that.
I wish I had gone w/Hostgator, though, just from reading Mike’s blog and others, so I promote them over JustHost for that reason…
But to config your IMAP etc, it’s definitely a job for the customer service folks, there should be a live chat option for that. On JustHost they make it sound like the world better be coming to an end before you chat w/them.
I don’t care: I just treat it like it’s an emergency and get some great service.
I’m on webhostingpad because Dave suggested them. I’m not too worried then if thats how long it takes. I have been checking and rechecking everything trying to figure out what I did wrong. I will worry about IMAP when I get there…
I’m so confused by problems you are having setting up domain emails. I had no issues, but then, I am using Hostgator.
Still, I thought most cPanels were similiar. I use a different host for my personal site, small Christian company and it’s easy there also to set up emails.
I just checked my submitters. Looks like I am signed up for about 100 on AB (I’ll bet some of those failed on submission though) and successfully submitted (according to the software) to ~75 on AAS. So your numbers on MAS don’t sound too different although check reviews on WF, I thought others were able to sign up to like 400.
The problem is that each step you’ll lose numbers. So you can sign up with 400 sites, but your submission success rate may only be 50%. Then some percentage of the successful submissions will never be posted, etc. But that is part of the game.
Now, what is this software you two are whispering about?
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..Building Backlinks with Articles – Article Order =-.
Yeah, sounds like you should be getting alot more:

Carrie, my problem is that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing, not that there is anything wrong with my hosting service. I think I have it figured out though.
I’ll let James send you the link to the software. I can understand why he doesn’t want to link to software he hasn’t used on this website.
I’ve got a great tip James. Go through the create account and activate account processes several times. Every single time I run it I seem to register for more accounts. I’m up to 783 directories. This program looks incredibly promising.
Josh — wow, man!
Is that the program I told you about or ArticleBot/MAS? Good grief, charlie brown.
Sorry to disappoint, but its only MAS.
I’m trying to decide now if I really want to spend time creating the articles to put in it or just find an ezine, use the magic button on it, and submit it. I could probably get 10 articles like that sent out in the time it would take for me to write 1 good spun article…..
Josh -
Not a disappointment at all, actually – so you got 738 directories/profiles, if I follow you then you’re saying this is after you’ve ran the “create profile” or “sign up” a number of times?
Pretty cool.
783 was probably after I ran it 10 times. I got close to 650 the first time though. I can’t seem to get it to go up from here(I’m using a “real” email address). I imagine I will get a few more if I try again tomorrow and the next day.
I have been researching this company thoroughly and only find positive things. I perform search engine optimization for local businesses and I’m going to try them out on one of my client’s sites. If the results are an increase in positioning I plan on outsourcing I’m crossing my fingers and I’ll blog about this whole case study. Everything I’ve read on this website is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for!
