How to Add Pinterest Button to WordPressI’m on a creative kick lately with video, using the AVS4YOU suite of tools (much cheaper than CamTasia, good enough for my tastes), and decided to do a quick tutorial on adding the Pinterest button to WordPress.

A number of people have asked how I’ve added the “Pin It” button to my social sidebar thingamabob (the technical name), so I figured I’d show you. The “thingamabob,” BTW, is the GetSocial plugin for WordPress (it’s FREE).

Mind you, it’s all an excuse to do another YouTube (subscribe here to my channel), since I’m having a blast playing with my AVS4YOU suite of tools: the truth of the matter is I really enjoy the whole creative process…

…I mean…now that I’ve stopped banging my head against a brick wall to figure out how to actually edit my videos and such…!

By the way, it looks much better in full screen…

So if you want more information on Pinterest, I’d check out Mashable and SocialMediaExaminer:

In a word: it’s one more Google-free source of traffic, worth looking into. (OK, that’s more than one word.)

They also give you dofollow links (even though they’re all image-based links, i.e. no anchor text)…

My take on Pinterest:

  • It’s 100% Google-proof
  • It’s outrageously popular
  • It’s driving TONS of traffic to retailers’ websites (i.e. BUYERS)
  • My wife loves it. ‘Nuff said. :)

Really: my wife’s a barometer for what’s going to be a big thing in traffic: she called it when it was Facebook, YouTube and now Pinterest…funny that she hasn’t gone head over heels for Google+…

Like I said…she’s a great barometer for what’s going to drive traffic…she did, after all, get 3,000 visits from one Tweet when she wanted to…

Besides Traffic and DoFollow Links, Why Pinterest Rocks

I know, I know: it’s like you have 1,000 ideas and directions to run in, and you’re not sure if you should chase Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube or Pinterest now…

Like Pat Flynn says: be everywhere…

But if you feel overwhelmed, I think you’ll LOVE Pinterest: it’s really chill. Cool as a cuke, in fact.

No articles to spin, no keywords to research (it’s all images that are linked, you can add keywords to descriptions, categories and tags, but not a lot of SEO going on)…

Not a whole lot to it: so it’s a welcome break from the monotony of link-building…

But moreover: it’s a freaking fantastic research tool!

Did I mention they drive boatloads of buying traffic? Look, I mention it in the early part of the video – but just search “Pinterest Traffic” and you’ll start to see that this isn’t just a passing fad: it’s targeted, hungry traffic if you play your cards right.

(I’m still learning the platform myself, but I tells ya, I’m pretty excited on this one: and no spamming the place, people! It’s not going to do you any good…)

Even if you feel overwhelmed, I think Pinterest is a good place to check out for a relaxed, fun environment to get targeted traffic from, dofollow links, and do some serious market research, even if it’s not scientific (there’s little hard data on what’s popular: but give ‘em time and someone will cook up Pinterest stats and likely make a nice mint off people like me).

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial, and hey: what do you think of the yellow and black? I’m thinking a blog design, using those colors…is that a keeper?

Tell me what you think below. Thanks for dropping by!
